2. In-home or virtual estimate
A senior move specialist visits the home (or walks through it by video) to see what’s moving, get to know your parent and note any special accommodations. You’ll receive a clear, written estimate.
3. Custom move plan
We map out every step: packing days, the moving date, storage needs and what goes where in the new home. Family members near or far can stay in the loop.
4. Sorting and downsizing
We help your loved one decide what to keep, store, donate or let go, at a pace that respects their feelings and attachment to their belongings.
5. Careful packing
Our crew packs and labels everything by room, giving extra care to fragile items, medications, important documents and sentimental pieces.
6. Moving day
Our uniformed crew protects floors and doorways, loads the truck and transports everything safely. We keep moving day as quiet and low-stress as possible.
7. Setup in the new home
We place furniture, make the bed, unpack essentials and remove debris, so your loved one can rest comfortably the first night.

Tips for Helping an Elderly Parent Move
A little planning goes a long way toward a smooth transition. Our senior move managers recommend these steps:
- Start early. Begin planning 6 to 8 weeks ahead when possible. Downsizing a home of 30 or 40 years takes time, and rushing adds stress.
- Involve your loved one in decisions. Let them choose which furniture, photos and keepsakes come along. Feeling in control makes the transition easier.
- Get the floor plan of the new home. Ask the community for room dimensions so you know what fits before moving day.
- Prioritize comfort items. A favorite chair, familiar bedding and family photos help a new room feel like home right away.
- Pack a first-night bag. Include medications, glasses, hearing aid batteries, toiletries, a change of clothes, chargers and important documents.
- Share the stories. Sorting belongings is a good time to record the stories behind heirlooms and pass items along to family.
- Update addresses and services. Forward mail, transfer prescriptions and notify Social Security, Medicare, banks and doctors of the new address.
- Plan for the old home. Decide early whether the house will be sold, rented or kept, and schedule any clean-out.
